            The author is Phillys Reynolds Naylor. Translated by Sapardi Djoko Darmono. I have evaluated this novel from story in novel. From its author too. My comment and my opinion about this novel are very good. Because from this novel we can know about the meaning of the true friendship. With a deftly language this book success to presenting a tightens story. And also, this novel ever won a ‘Newberry Medal’ in America. This novel is true story Phillys has told real story. Shiloh is a small dog from West Virginia. The real name of this dog is Clover. And now, it was being celebrity in there. And this time to me, to explain about this story.

            Human cannot life with peaceful and happy without a friendly environment. Who loving and is loved. Nature, animal, and human can make a harmonious in life. And make we enjoyed life. In the first book from this trilogy is told a feel love between Marty Preston, he is a teen. And Shiloh, a small dog. Between them too, there a Judd Travers, the participants who like to destroy nature and torture animal. Because his hobby is hunt in jungle.

            “This night, it will free, but if it lost again, I will box it, until it dead, I promise”

It Judd saying when Shiloh lost. How with your feel when you heard someone said like that about something whose you loving. Marty could not hide his crying while Judd Travers said his cruel’s word to a little dog that has seen by Marty at afternoon. A sweet and funny dog who followed him a long day, who can make Marty falling in love to Shiloh. Shiloh is name of dog who Marty given to this dog. Shiloh was Judd Travers dog, a cruel neigbour who like to box his pets. Marty want to take care of Shiloh but it was impossible because Marty’s family was poor family.

            Silently, Marty make kennel to Shiloh in behind house. His family did know if silently Marty take care of Shiloh. When Judd Travers looked for Shiloh in his house, Marty pretend didn’t know. Until one day, in midnight went Marty slept, he heard a sad dog’s voice from behind house. All of family went to behind house to seen what has happened. Marty the first people who looked if Shiloh was mortally wounded in all of its body. Its blood out very much. Marty’s  parents and Dara lynn his sister was shocked when seen what has happened. A herder dog tortured Shiloh. His father brought Shiloh to doctor in order that to examine Shiloh. After that, with angry Marty’s father asked Marty to return Shiloh to Judd. Marty didn’t have to have the heart to return Shiloh. Shiloh still weaks and not yet better. Judd was very happy. He promises in his self to box Shiloh again when Shiloh recovered.

            One day, with his brave Marty went to Judd home. He will do anything to get Shiloh, and then Judd was greedy people, he wanted Marty to give much money. It mean if Marty must bought Shiloh from him. The price of Shiloh is £40. Marty the poor son. Promise to bought Shiloh. He asked one week from Judd to get that money. And Marty threaten Judd, if Judd still torture Shiloh he will reported it to police. Suddenly, Judd hold Shiloh and took knife, he threaten Marty too, if Marty do what make Judd upset, he directly kill Shiloh, Marty afraid and with sadness he go home.  

            After from Judd home, Marty told what has happened to his parents. His father said, “ I can not help you son, my salary not enough to help you, but, you can deliver newspaper every morning, help our neighbour Mr. brown to clean the bird cage his cattle rising. In afternoon, you can collect trash can. Marty agree. During five days he worked hard. But he only get £10, he know if he only a small boy it’s only twelve years old.

            Finally, he went to Judd’s house again, Judd laugh, when look Marty came without money. Judd give Marty occupation. With decision Judd will give him £2 for one hour. So, he must work for Judd until twenty hours, he could collect £40 only for Shiloh. A small dog Marty willing to work hard. Marty must go to Judd house at 3 p.m. He must work two hours everyday, his work five times for a week. Every afternoon, Marty moved big wood, cutting grass, take out bean, and do what Judd want. Not only it sometimes blood out his hand when Marty dig sand. But, finally marty success to got Shiloh.
